Story of Terry Sprague’s 1966 Dodge Coronet 500

Very well preserved B-body Mopar, painted in FM3 Panther Pink, with stunning White interior and fitted with rowdy Magnum 440 V8 engine, Terry Sprague’s 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 is what you call a head turning muscle car. Check out the video we put together for him and read the story below!

“We purchased the Panther Pink 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 from a collector in Rochester Washington in October of 2018 based on an ad in Ebay. There was just something about this Mopar, I had to have it. The seller was asking too much for the car and I made him an offer which he refused, so I told him if it did not sell and if he was still interested in selling it my offer would still stand”

“About 6 weeks later we were on a plane to check it out for the usual B-body stuff, rusty package tray, frame rails etc. The 1966 Dodge Coronet body and paint were in good condition, but it was raining so hard I did not test drive it. It sounded good, no smoke, did not overheat at idle, so we made preparations to have it shipped to California and in a week, it showed up at the door”

“I immediately jumped in the 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 to take it through the paces. When I got back the wife asked me how it was so I could not lie to her and I said: it’s a Pig, a Big Pink Pig (now that’s what everyone calls it) I ran a compression check and one of the eight 440 cylinders held pressure”

“No big deal. I installed Edelbrock Performer RPM Cylinder Heads, Intake, Cam shaft Lift: .480”/.495” Duration @ .050: 238°/246° MSD Ignition and a new Performer Carb and the Panther Pink 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 Magnum went from a 200hp anemic car to a 425 horsepower cruiser”

“A week later the transmission went out, so I replaced the stock 727 Torqueflight with a brand new TCI Street Fighter Manual Valve Body with a Hughes 2900 Stall and now have a reliable muscle car. It is an older restoration and had won six awards by the time we got it but since then it won the local Hooters car show (I guess the girls liked the color)”

“I guess what we like the most about the 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 is the unusual look with the 1970 FM3 Panther Pink color. The crowd loves the Mopar and of course there always a few haters (always guys) because of the paint. The “Pink Pig” will be in the Family for a long time, unless a Moulin Rouge 1970 Cuda comes up for sale”
