Story of Bill Kramer’s 1967 Mustang Fastback GT390 Build

Restorer of several classic Mustangs, when Bill Kramer came across a newspaper ad for two ponies sitting in a barn in Wisconsin he knew this was a good deal and took advantage of it. Using the parts of the ’68 Coupe Bill has built a beautiful 1967 Mustang Fastback GT 390 Bullitt tribute. Check out the video and then see all the specs below.

Made to represent Steve McQueen’s Bullitt Mustang adding few personal touches, Bill Kramer has done most of the work himself. See all the info provided by his Grandson Chase Dahmer:

1967 Mustang Fastback GT body:

Complete restoration including new front & rear frame rails, floor pans, torque boxes, rocker panels, trunk drop offs, tail light panel, front and rear valances, rear quarters, hood, deck lid, front fender aprons and radiator support panels. All new bumpers, brackets, mirror, handles, locks, tail light assembly and lettering, all new seals for doors, deck lid and glass. Billet grill with Shelby side scoops and functional lower scoops to rear brakes.

Interior:

All new upholstery, original consoles, original dash pad and steering wheel.

Suspension:

Front-620# 1’ lowering coil springs, front sway bar with polyurethane, bushings and KYB gas shocks, rear-1” lowering 5 leaf springs with stock traction bars, ¾” sway bar, KYB gas.

Brakes: 

All new lines and master power brake kit including front discs with 4 piston calipers and 11-½” rotors, new power booster, dual master cylinder.

Exhaust: 

Hooker headers with 3” collectors, 3” Magnaflow exhaust with Tru X pipe and cut-outs. (all stainless)

1967 Mustang Fastback GT engine:

Ford 390 cubic Inch high-performance V8 factory rated 335hp and 427 ft lbs. torque. Complete rebuild including: Bored .030 over, Decked block, Grind + Magnaflux crankshaft, Magnaflux rods, Head resurfacing; .010, Complete valve job with new bronze valve-guides and hi-chrome valve seats shocks, HD valve locks, new valves, valve springs & retainers, Ford 390 master rebuild kit with performance cam, Smith brothers pushrods, All ARP bolts in engine, Ford Motorsports chrome oil pan, Edelbrock Performer rpm dual plane aluminum intake manifold, Holley 750 CFM dual feed carb with mechanical secondary and manual choke, Petronix ignition.

Drivetrain:

Ford 4 speed manual, Hurst competition shifter, Top loader/close ratio completely rebuilt Centerforce 11” clutch, dual friction, New driveshaft, Ford 9” rear end rebuilt with 31 spline axles and Posi traction, Torq-thrust 15”x7” wheels.
