GM introduced the mid-size A-body platform in 1964 and its purpose was to offer a combination of good traction, comfort and performance on all their brands which were going to use it. A-body vehicles were produced by Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile, but of course exterior and interior designs on each brand were different.
While in the begining most cars were family sedans and station wagons, when the buyers started to look for more power, the high performance versions came into play. The ’64 Pontiac GTO was the one that paved the way and as we all know many high-revving V8 performers were built throughout the 60’s and 70’s.
