Brought to the public only to qualify the 1969 Camaro for the NHRA competition, the ZL1 model looked like a very basic automobile. Just the cowl induction hood and dual exhaust gave the slight hint, this car might have a powerful V8 engine.

But the ZL1 Camaro was high performance machine equipped with upgraded suspension, 4.10 geared rear axle, power front disc brakes, and the mighty Chevrolet 427 aluminum Big Block also optioned with aluminum heads. With a price of over $7,000, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was quite expensive back then, and therefore only 69 were produced for that year.
