Offered with the 383 V8 as a standard engine and 426 HEMI as an option, the Plymouth Road Runner was named car of the year for 1969 by Motor Trend. The introduced in mid-year A12 optioned Road Runners became one of the fastest muscle cars ever produced.
A little over 1,400 Plymouth Road Runner muscle cars were optioned with the A12 package, which consist of 440 Big Block 6BBL engine (3×2 barrel Holley carbs), Dana 60 rear with 4.10 gears, Black lift-off fiberglass hood and 15×6 Black steel wheels.
