Drive Hands-Free with Ford’s 2021 Mach-E Mustang

The Ford Mustang represents the heart of an American muscle car, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t overdue for a few changes. For instance, Ford Mustang insurance is a point of discussion, as this hot muscle car usually costs a bit more to insure than other vehicles.

Technology has allowed us to address plenty of different car issues, including safety. One of the hottest features in the automobile industry right now is driverless measures, and the ability to drive hands-free opens up new doors.

Indeed, we’ve all found ourselves driving when we’re not at our best. Distracted driving represents a growing number of auto accidents on the road, but the 2021 Ford Mach-E Mustang has a great solution to this problem: hands-free driving.

Embracing Hands-Free Driving Technology

Currently, this Mustang model is not hands-free everywhere. Indeed, it is programmed for very specific “hands-free” zones. This tech feature is called BlueCruise. You might have read a few things already on Ford coming out with autonomous driving technology, as it was first called Active Drive Assist.

At this time, the Mach-E’s with BlueCruise will be the ones with the Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 package.

The hands-free driving isn’t the only thing that makes BlueCruise so appealing. The greater system, Co-Pilot 360, will be able to assist with parallel parking, perpendicular parking (a bonus for city drivers especially), blind spot protection, road-edge detection, and more.

In terms of fully autonomous driving, it’s important to note that the Mach-E isn’t going to let you fall asleep at the wheel. Co-Pilot 360 does have sensors to make sure that you are paying attention to the road.

However, it is designed to give you the freedom to enjoy a cup of coffee or check briefly on your passengers. You can enjoy the radio and other small distractions without having to steer.

The lane-centering system keeps the car on the right track, making drivers safer on the road. Driver drowsiness sets in the longer people are on the road, so it’s great to have these systems in place to help keep people moving.

Insurance Considerations for the Ford Mach-E Mustang

Car insurance can be a hurdle when drivers begin to look at getting a new vehicle. However, it doesn’t have to be difficult. After all, car insurance is based on the idea of risk. The insurance company wants to balance their needs with yours, so they want you to be as safe as possible and reduce your risk of getting into an accident.

Historically, driving a Mustang was considered a trigger for high insurance premiums because of the way these vehicles are built: Speed and fast driving tend to go hand-in-hand with Mustangs (especially the 1969-1970 Ford Mustang models), and insurance companies have raised rates accordingly.

With semi-autonomous driving technology, it is likely that insurance companies will begin to take this into consideration when assigning rates. We don’t have a lot of data yet on hands-free driving, so insurance companies are still waiting on resetting rates.

Insurance underwriting does take into consideration a wide range of factors, including your personal driving record, your accident history, and your local area. If you live in an area that isn’t known for a high number of accidents, your monthly premium will be less compared to people that live in an area with a high number of accidents

If you’re going to look at getting a 2021 Ford Mach-E Mustang, make sure that you shop around for your car insurance. Different companies use slightly different underwriting rules, so get multiple car insurance quotes.

What’s next for the Mustang?

The 2021 Ford Mach-E Mustang is an amazing vehicle that’s sleek and captures the true spirit of this American classic. The addition of its EV technology without losing the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds is a great combo. This vehicle is absolutely worth checking out.

Ford has a long history of turning out some innovative and fast muscle cars, but they’re going in a different direction with the Mach-E that’s a blend of great technology and entertaining drive time. This SUV version is bound to take the Mustang to a completely different level.
